Born in Jerome, Arizona on Dec. 2, 1930.
Departed on Aug. 29, 2007 and resided in Clarkdale, Ariz.

Carolyn Marie Hampel (James) McKenzie, 76, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her daughters on August 29, 2007.

She was born in Jerome at the United Verde Hospital and spent her lifetime in Clarkdale, Arizona. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a loyal friend and compassionate soul.

Carolyn had many successes in her life, which included restaurant owner, nutrition specialist, award-winning pianist and an avid bowler, knitter and crafter.

Her husband, William George James, Jr. and sister, Francis Ryan preceded her in death. She is survived by four loving daughters, Cathy (Ed) Aakhus, Lynne (Ron) Rodriquez, Joan (Bob) Middleton, and Nancy (Ken) Baetz.

She was blessed with eight grandchildren; Jeff Middleton, Katie Middleton, Cora Rodriquez, Spencer Rodriquez, Mary Rose Baetz, Charles Baetz, Esther Baetz, and Joshua Baetz.

Her family welcomes all who knew and loved Carolyn to join them in a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 9:00 am at the Clarkdale Town Park.

Inurnment will follow at the Valley View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to: RTA Hospice and Palliative Care, 70 Bell Rock Plaza, Sedona, Arizona 86351; or to a charity close to your own heart.
