Born in Oak Park, Illinois on March 4, 1926.
Departed on Dec. 8, 2005 and resided in Clarkdale, Ariz.

Edward R. Nelson, 79, resident of Clarkdale, AZ passed early Thursday morning, December 8, 2005. Born to Edward and Mary Nelson on March 4, 1926 in Oak Park, IL.

He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Edward loved to travel, and since his retirement to Arizona he had enjoyed many journeys around the country.

He was a Member of the American Baptist Church in IL. He taught Sunday School and stayed active in many church activities. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America and other sports that his children joined.

Edward leaves behind his loving wife and companion of 53 years, Joan Nelson; his sons, Patrick (Barbara) of Ariz. and Tim of Ill.; two brothers, Gene of Ill. and Bob of Ms., as well as, four grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at the VFW, Post 7400 in Cottonwood on Thursday, Decemeber 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.

In memory of Edward the family requests that contributions be made to the VFW or American Legion, American Diabetes Association or other favorite charitable organization.
