Lillian Kooken, 90, of Prescott, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away March 4, 2006, peacefully at Prescott Valley Samaritan Village.

She was a good, kind and gentle lady. Throughout her life she extended a helping hand to family, friends, and, even strangers. Lillian will be remembered by many for her kindness.

Lillian was born Dec. 6, 1915, near Cooperstown, N.D. She was fifth of eleven children born to Adolph and Paulina (Johnson) Larson.

She grew up in North Dakota and Northern Minnesota. Lillian married Marvin Arthur Kooken April 25,1936, in Grand Rapids, Minn.

Lillian was a long-time resident of Southern California and Las Vegas, Nev., moving to Prescott in 1997.

Her occupation was as a housewife, a homemaker, and a very good fry cook.

When Marvin retired in 1977, they enjoyed rock hunting and RV traveling. Lillian had hobbies of oil painting, knitting, crocheting, quilting, drawing and genealogy.

Her husband of 64-plus years, Marvin preceded Lillian in death in 2000.

Two sons survive her: Ron (Joy) of Hawthorne, Nev., and Jerry (Joy) of Prescott; brother Clarence (Joyce) Larson of Bend, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Belva Larson of Virginia, Minn., and Isia Carpenter of Corning, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Jim (Debbi) Kooken, Gary (Teddy) Kooken of Prescott, Karen (John) Berryhill of Mesa, Maria (Rick) of Addis, La., Sharly (Mike) Eckley of Crestline, Calif., Ronald (Dominique) Kooken of Torrance, Calif., Shaundra Estrada of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jeffery (Barbara) Kooken of Delta, Utah; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grand-children; and soon to be three great-great-grand-children.

A celebration of Lillian's life will take place Saturday, March 25, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Hampton Funeral Home. Warren Rushton of Dewey-Humboldt, a lifelong friend of Jerry's wife Joy, will speak at the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, 3262 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
