Tayloe Hannaford Churchill, 90, resident of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006. She was born on October 18, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to Foster and Alice Hannaford. Tayloe attended Sarah Lawrence, where she obtained her Bachelor's of Art degree. She was a Political Writer, Art Patron, and the Founder of the Oakland Museum, and the Matilda Brown Home for Women. She belonged to the Bellevue Club of Oakland, and she was a member of the Oakland Museum Women's Board. Tayloe was also active in the East Bay Junior League, the Art League of the East Bay, and the Children's Hospital of the East Bay. Tayloe was a world traveler and Philanthropist who loved classical music and opera. She was the mother of Creighton Hannaford Churchill of Cottonwood, Ariz.; the mother-in-law of Spring Bright Churchill, Cottonwood, Ariz; sister to Priscilla Greeley; and the aunt of many beloved nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service held in Tayloe's Honor at a later date in California. Contributions can be sent to the: Oakland Museum Women's Board.
