Bette Louise (Thomas) Hille

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 2, 1924.
Departed on July 21, 2006 and resided in Cornville, Ariz.

Bette Louise Hille, 82, resident of Oak Creek Valley in Cornville, Arizona, passed away at home, with her family by her side, on Friday, July 21, 2006. Bette was born on June 2, 1924 in St. Louise, Missouri to Weber and Louise (McDonald) Thomas.

Bette was a graduate of Webster Groves High School. Afterwards, Bette attended Miss Hickey’s Business School for two years. As a result of her education, Bette worked as an Executive Secretary - dedicating 20 years to various organizations and fulfilling various capacities within such.

Her greatest life accomplishments were those within her own home. Bette was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband, Tom. What started out as sweethearts in high school, resulted in sixty years of marriage; filled with affection and love – a lifetime companionship. Bette also successfully fulfilled her role as mother - to six daughters - with deep love and devotion. She was fierce, but soft and she was strong, yet so tender. As years went on, she became a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.

Bette loved life, and she lived life to its fullest; she had a great sense of humor, she made friends easily and never met a stranger. She accepted everyone into her home. Bette was an expert seamstress, knitter and crotchetier. She was phenomenal with crafts; having made and sold numerous art pieces with the sea shells she collected along the Florida beaches. Bette was also a dancer; she loved to do the jitterbug – to see she and Tom together on the floor was to witness a certain form of magic. She and Tom won many trophies. Bette taught her daughters how to swing to the music!

From her family: “You’re in peace now. Everyday - we will miss you”.

Bette is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara St. Cyr; and her parents.

Bette was the cherished wife of Thomas Hille of Cornville, Ariz.; she was the devoted mother of Chris Heyer, husband Skip, of Cornville, Ariz., Jeanne Beare-March, husband Barrie, of Moorhead, Minn., Judy Tucker, her husband, Tom Wallace of St. Louis, Mo., Kathy Jones, husband, Kenneth of Duke, Mo., and Ruth Fisk, husband, John of Okemos, Mich.; she was the beloved sister of Anne Monaghan of Hollywood, Calif.; and the adored grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of 2.

Bette will be laid to rest at the Forever Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirkwood, Missouri. There will be no local services.
