Kenneth William Rau died March 15, 2009 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Prescott Valley. Ken was born Feb. 1927 in Montague, Mass., the son of John and Grace (Treat) Rau. Ken was 82 years old.

Ken married Edith Emsley Sept. 5, 1949. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1950, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, a member of three honorary societies, and worked in aerospace for defense of the nation. He and Edith lived in Wayland, Mass. and were active in local and state Association for Retarded Citizens.

Following his retirement, he moved to Prescott on Feb. 15, 1993. After Edith died unexpectedly in April 1996 he was fortunate to find love again in Phyllis Vosbeck, and they where married May 30, 1998.

He was a member of the Prescott Hiking Club, Yavapai Symphony Association and Unity Church. He enjoyed the rugged beauty of Arizona as well as classical music. Throughout his life family came first.

Ken is survived by his wife Phyllis; sons, Gerald (Victoria), Charles (Sheree) and Glenn; daughter, Sandra; and eight grandchildren.

A Celebration of Ken's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Unity Church.

There will be a private burial at Heritage Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Dewey, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Unity Church, 150 S. Arizona, Prescott, Ariz., 86303 or YRMC Hospice, Restricted Fund, 3262 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314
