Helen Agneta Duncan

Born in Chicago, Illinois on Jun. 13, 1920
Departed on May 21, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, AZ.

Helen A. Duncan, 82, of Cottonwood, Arizona died on Wednesday, May 21st. She was born Helen Agneta Jensen on June 13, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois.

She grew up with her late sister Katherine in Park Ridge, Illinois where she was church secretary to Pastor Spangler of St. Lukes Lutheran Church for awhile until she got a job as a dental assistant for Dr. Camron in Park Ridge. There she met her future husband Al who was a delivery tech for the dental lab.

They married in 1942 and Al was shipped out during World War II shortly after. When he returned she worked side by side with her husband in the family dental laboratory business. She took off some time to have two children, a daughter and a son. They lived in Elmhurst, Illinois for twenty four years.

Helen and Al moved to Cottonwood, Arizona in 1977 with their son and his wife. They all continued in the business here in Cottonwood. Al passed in 1994, however Helen continued to work in the business with her son and daughter-in-law until physical limitations prevented this in the year 2000.

Helen had a great devotion to her family. She never missed an opportunity to attend her granddaughter's baton twirling competitions, or her grandson's tennis and soccer tournaments. She had a love for sports, and it didn't matter which one, she enjoyed them all. She was a private person who loved reading and her quiet time. When she was out she always enjoyed a good conversation, and she had a wonderful quick wit. Generosity and kindness were a virtue she possessed and she loved her Lord Jesus dearly. Helen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cottonwood and will be remembered for her warm friendly smile.

Helen is survived by her daughter Joan Ossman, husband Ray, Arlington Heights, Ill.; son Dave Duncan, wife Linda, Cottonwood, Ariz.; granddaughter Dr. Karen Dunlavy, husband Ken, Caroline, Wisc.; grandson David Duncan, wife Amy and great-grandson Carson Duncan, Cottonwood, Ariz.

Funeral services for Mrs. Duncan will be held on Monday, May 26th at the Peace Lutheran Church 1450 E. Fir Street in Cottonwood, Arizona. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pastor William Kessel will officiate.

Interment will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery. Westcott Funeral Home of Cottonwood has been entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Phoenix Childrens Hospital Foundation, 1920 E. Cambridge Suite #200, Phoenix, Arizona, 85006
