Jack A. Hood, 77, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Hospice Family Care in Prescott. Jack was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Leesville, La., to Leon and Fawn Hood.

Jack and his wife Sherry lived in the Beaumont-Houston-Austin areas prior to moving to Arizona in 1999. Jack retired from Mobil Oil Corp.

Jack and Sherry moved to Phoenix in 1999 and to Prescott in 2003.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sherry Hood; a daughter, Terry Kerr; son-in-law David Kerr; grandchildren Jack, Hannah, Callie, Shelby and Joshua; a great-granddaughter, Jacalyn; a son, Larry G. Hood; daughter-in-law Brenda Hood, and grandson Danny Hood; a brother, Don R. Hood; sister-in-law Karen; and niece Kari; a mother-in-law, Kennie Merendino; sister-in-law Rhonda Seifert; brother-in-law Al Seifert; and niece Stefanie; and two precious Pomeranian pups, Prissy and Angel.

A special thanks to YRMC's Fourth Floor, East nursing staff and Hospice Family Care Crossings Unit in Prescott.

Jack's family would like to also thank his doctors and their staff for the care and respect shown Jack through the years.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, Ariz.
