Mary R. Kensing, 87, of Chino Valley, Ariz., born Oct. 2, 1918, in Brady, Texas, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Shepherd's Lane, Prescott, Ariz.

Mary R. Kensing of Chino Valley died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. She was 87. Mrs. Kensing was born Oct. 2,1918, in Brady, Texas, to Julian H. Behrens and Nell Couch Behrens.

She graduated from Brady High School and attended John Tarleton College for one year. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator.

During World War II she worked as a flight clerk at Curtis Air Field in Brady and later at Hondo Air Force Base in Hondo, Texas. She also worked as a supervisor at USAA Insurance in San Antonio, Texas, retiring in 1976.

Mary moved to Dewey in 1982 and Chino Valley in 1999. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Prescott Valley, serving as secretary on the church board for several years. She attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church in the latter years of her life.

Mary married Ernest Kensing on Jan. 10, 1948, in Brady, Texas.

She is survived by her son, Gary Kensing of Prescott and his wife, Karen (Turner) Kensing; grandchildren Kyle Kensing of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Anne Kensing of Tucson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Kensing and grandson, Scott Kensing.

A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Shepherd's Lane and Ruger Road, Prescott.

Internment will be in Mason, Texas.
