Phoenix Gazette Friday, January 7, 1944 Pioneer State Miner Dies Homer Campbell, 71, former Wickenburg mining man and resident of Phoenix the past three years, died Friday morning at the home of his niece, Mrs. George Vensel, Lateral 20 and Maricopa Road. Born Dec. 6, 1872, at Neodasha, Wilson County, Kan. Campbell came to Arizona with his family and settled at Prescott in 1876. The following year the family moved to Walnut Grove, where he lived until 1906 when he went to Wickenburg. He was engaged in mining activities at Wickenburg until about 10 years ago. Besides Mrs Vensel he is survived by a son, Joseph T. Campbell, Maywood, Calif., and another niece, Mrs Fred Edwards of Phoenix. His wife died on the coast in 1928. Funeral services will be held in A. L. Moore and Sons Memory Chapel at 1pm Sunday with the Rev T. F. Hughes officiating. The body will be taken to Walnut Grove for burial. See Also: Find A Grave |
