The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, March 18, 2006 Reed Vines died in Phoenix on March 11, 2006. He was born in Phoenix on Sept. 19, 1929; the youngest and ninth child of George and Cenie Perry Vines. Reed grew up on a farm near Laveen and attended Laveen Elementary and Phoenix Union High Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Reed loved the outdoors and spent his life hunting and fishing, camping and hiking. He retired from Atlantic Richfield in 1985 but continued working driving a tractor at various construction sites around the Valley. He retired again to his mini-farm in the southwest Valley to raise a few head of cattle and tend his garden. Last year Reed totally retired and moved to Prescott with his wife. Reed is survived by his wife, Kathy; four of his sisters; six step-children and a daughter; seven grand-children; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, at the National Veterans Cemetery, Cave Creek Road and Pinnacle Peak, Phoenix, Ariz. Please donate to a charity in lieu of flowers.
