Xenia (Madame) Chlistowa

CHLISTOWA, Xenia (Madame)
Xenia Chlistowa passed away on December 23, 2005 after a short illness. She was a Professor Emeritus at Arizona State University. Madame Chlistowa was born in Lithuania and trained in ballet at the Kirov Academy in Leningrad, USSR. She was a soloist and prima ballerina for the Kirov and subsequently Prima Ballerina for several other European Ballet Companies. After coming to the USA, she retired from the stage and worked as ballet mistress and choreographer for several ballet companies in the US and abroad, finishing her career on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin, and finally as Professor of Dance at Arizona State University.

She is survived by her son, John Humphrey. Services were held at the Carr Tenney Mortuary on 2621 South Rural Road, Tempe. Published in the East Valley Tribune on 12/28/2005.
