Wilma Elizabeth (Chuckie) Santistevan

Wilma Elizabeth Santistevan, 55, known as “Chuckie” by all of her family and friends passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 7, 2009 following five years of undergoing chemo and radiation therapy for cancer.

Born in Douglas, Wyoming on Jan. 8, 1954, she came to Arizona in 1957 with her parents and older sibling and lived in Hayden for several years. Her teen-aged years were spent in Superior where she attended elementary and high school. She graduated from Superior High School in 1973.

Throughout her adventurous life, she lived in Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. She attended the College of Beauty Arts and Science in Prescott, Arizona in 1994. She moved to Las Vegas where she worked as a cosmetologist and PBX operator for various casinos. She enjoyed salsa and ballroom dancing.

Her loving mother Eulalia V. Santistevan preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving and devoted son Pacino Gonzales, father William (Bill) Santistevan of Queen Creek, sisters Theresa (Luis) Medrano of Avondale, Linda (Mike) Peterson of Las Vegas, Kathy Santistevan of Queen Creek, brothers Danny Santistevan of Queen Creek and Billy Santistevan of Phoenix and David (Kelli) Santistevan of Mesa, aunt Irma (Joe) Urquijo of Superior, aunt Linda (godmother) Lujan of Superior and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She often spoke very highly of two best friends in her life, Gracie and Frankie Ybarra, who were on her side on many occasions.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi in Superior with Father Francis Iber officiating.
