Robert T. (Bobby) Urquides passed away in his home in Wickenburg on December 20. He was 66 years old. He was born in Phoenix, Ariz. on February 21, 1941.

He was a life-long resident of the Wickenburg area. His childhood was spent in Congress, and he was the youngest of 11 children. He attended school in Wickenburg and enjoyed playing football in high school.

After he graduated, he started his long career of working for the Wickenburg School District. He married Nancy Elliott in 1964. Their son Robert arrived in 1968 and their daughter Michelle in 1972.

Bobby was a hard worker and worked many extra jobs over the years to support his family. He worked for the school district for 28 years, and he retired from the position of Transportation Director.

Bobby also volunteered his time on the Wickenburg Fire Department for 30 years. In his younger years he loved to camp, hunt and fish. He spent a lot of time going out in the desert in his jeep. He was always busy doing yard work, or fixing things around the house.

He was such a loving dad and an extremely proud “Tata” to his three grandchildren Brandon, Amy and Sarah. They were the absolute lights of his life, and he loved spending time with them. They will miss him so much.

Bobby was known for his joking manner or “giving people a hard time.” He could always find something to chat about and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was very loved and cherished by those around him, and he will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Urquides of Wickenburg, son Robert Urquides of Wickenburg, daughter Michelle Stevens and her husband Ray of Phoenix, grandchildren Brandon, Amy and Sarah Steven of Phoenix, sister Rosie Chavez, brothers Jimmy Urquides and Pete Urquides, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Thursday, December 27. Arrangements are under the direction of David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home of Wickenburg.
