David Charles (Dave) Nesbitt

David Charles Nesbitt, 92, passed away at 3:38 p.m. April 9, 2014. Born May 31, 1921 in Wheeling, W.Va., he graduated from high school in 1940, married Harriet Rose Criswell, March 21, 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II as a machinist aboard the USS Prince William; he saw duty in the Pacific and Atlantic theaters of operation.

Following discharge, he returned to Wheeling and applied for employment with the FBI as a clerical employee and entered duty Sept. 9, 1946. Desiring to become a Special Agent, he attended night school at Southeastern University where he graduated May 1950 with a B.S. degree in accounting. He served as a Special Agent in San Antonio for one year and Detroit for 23 years.

He retired Sept. 27, 1974 to Lake Havasu City and became active in many endeavors. He and Harriet also participated in the formation of the Lake Havasu Community College Campus Foundation, the purpose of which was to acquire BLM land for the establishment of a new campus for Mohave Community College.

Dave was a five-time president of two different clubs. He enjoyed and was active in square dancing, becoming a caller with the Sandpoint Squares and Wheelers, Londonderry Squares, London Bridge Squares and the Kingman Kut-Ups; he also enjoyed golf, bowling and bike riding.

Harriet passed away July 4, 1984. On Jan. 20, 1990 David married Lorene Dahir, nee Storms. Lori passed away May 24, 2008.

David is survived by son, David E. (Larane) Nesbitt; grandchildren, Lara, Amy, David and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Dodd; a step-daughter and step grand-daughter.
