Loretta Carter
April 5, 1921 - April 17, 2014

Funeral services for Loretta Carter, age 93 formerly of Pima, who passed away, Thursday, April 17th, in Casa Grande, following a brief illness, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26th, in the Coolidge L.D.S. Chapel, in Casa Grande, with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Pima Cemetery.

Loretta, born in Ramona, South Dakota, moved to Los Angeles, California during WW II, where she worked in the Vega Air Plane plant as a riveter. She was among those women who were known as "Rosie the Riveter".

It was there she met Lynn Carter and they were married November 15, 1942. She remained there until Lynn was deployed with the Army and Loretta returned to South Dakota. She moved back to California until Lynn was discharged from the Service in 1949 when they moved to Arizona where Lynn began working on his Uncle Walter Batty's farm.

In 1971 they moved to Wenden and remained there until Lynn's passing at which time Loretta moved to the Mesa area and began working in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Later she moved to Coolidge to be near her children.

She is survived by; her sons Tommy of Mesa, Jackie (Kay) of Concho, Danny (Kim) of Ehrenberg, Linda (John) Van Haren, currently living in Alaska, Susie (Morris) Taylor of Coolidge and Polly (Craig) Abraham also of Coolidge and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

Local arrangements are under the direction of McDougal's Caldwell Chapel.
