Chino Valley Review,
Chino Valley, Arizona

Former Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO/Director Daniel T. Marley died on March 26 in Florida, where he had lived the past few years with his companion, Robin Parrow. He was 85.

Marley served as the Chamber CEO from 2000-2004, and in 2004, the chamber started the "Daniel T. Marley Business of the Year Award" in his honor and has presented it every year since to the chamber's top business member.

Marley's Chino Valley friends called him a "quiet, kind, friendly man with lots of common sense, a great story-teller, a prankster with a twinkle in his eye and a dry sense of humor," adding, "He will be missed."

Marley, who lived many years in Albuquerque, N.M., moved to Chino Valley after retirement. As chamber director, he put in lots of hours at the Chamber office, often working alone with some help from chamber board members and an occasional volunteer. He introduced the Chamber Mixer, a monthly event for local businesses and individuals to meet and network. He kept the Town brochure up to date to help promote Chino Valley.

A member of the American Legion and a veteran of the Korean War, he was the consummate volunteer. Marley repaired and rebuilt wheelchairs, walkers and other handicap articles for people in need.

Services for Marley will be private at a later date.
