John W. Simpson of Wickenburg died Dec. 21 at his home in Wickenburg.

He was 76. Mr. Simpson was born Jan. 23, 1920 in Prescott and raised on the Sevens cattle ranch in Ash Fork. He was a lifelong resident of Arizona. After finishing his education in Chandler, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in northern Arizona.

Mr. Simpson married Aimee Pouquette in 1942 before serving in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. Following the war, he was manager of Sitgreaves Sheep and Cattle Company for 30 years in Williams and Chandler.

Mr. Simpson currently owned and managed the Simpson Cattle Company in Wickenburg with his two sons. He was a member of the Cattlemen's Association, Wickenburg Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the Woolgrowers Association.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Aimee; son and daughter-in-law John and Kathy Simpson of Wickenburg, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Sharon Simpson of Wickenburg; grandchildren Stocker and Sage Simpson, Chris Rich and Steven Mohorn; and sister Lavine Porter of Albuquerque, N.M.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26 at Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Wickenburg.
