James C. (Jim) Hoiby

James "Jim" C. Hoiby of Wickenburg died Nov. 19 in Sun City West. He was 81.

Mr. Hoiby was born June 21, 1915 in Minneapolis, Minn.

He had lived in Arizona for the past years, coming from Minnesota. Mr. Hoiby was the vice President and chief engineer of ONAN Corp., which manufactured electrical standby generating systems. He was employed there 43 years. The present engineering building at the ONAN Corp is named after Mr. Hoiby. After his retirement, he enjoyed designing and building different systems, including the solar heating system for his home. Mr. Hoiby also enjoyed flying and owning his own plane, and boating when he lived in Minneapolis.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Betty Hoiby of Wickenburg; daughter Linda Petersen of Denver, Colo.; and sons Gary Hoiby of San Francisco, Calif. and James Hoiby of Tucson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Hoiby;sister Elizabeth Onan and brother Henry Hoiby.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov; 23 at 10 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg with graveside services following at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.

Services were officiated by Pastor Ed Wessling. Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Frey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Betty Hoiby of Wickenburg; daughter Linda Peterson of Denver, Colo.; and sons Gary Hoiby of San Francisco, Calif. and James Hoiby of Tucson.
He proceeded in death by a daughter, Susan Hoiby; sister Elizabeth Onan; and brother Henry Hoiby.

Services have been held.
