James Monroe Champie

J.M. Champie of the Castle Hot Springs area died Dec. 12 in Prescott.
He was 90. Mr. Champie was the last member of a pioneer family, the A.F. Champie family. He was born when Arizona was still a territory on Feb. 11, 1906 in Phoenix.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Sarah; Son J.M. Champie, Jr. of Austin, Nev.; Stepsons John Cooley of Tucson and Robert Cooley of Chandler; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel, in 1971.

Private family services have been held. Memorial services will be held in the spring in the Wickenburg area.
