DuWane A. Stadel

DuWane A. Stadel of Hoyt, Kan., died Oct. 27 at his residence in Kansas. He was 79.

Mr. Stadel was born July 2, 1917 north of Hoyt on the family farm and had lived in Hoyt his entire life. His parents were Clarence A. and Maye Elizabeth Davis Stadel. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Stadel also was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Philip Billard Post 1650, VFW and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3.

He is a descendant of a pioneer family. His great-grandparents came to America from Germany in 1857, settling at Easton, Pa. The family moved to Kansas in 1868 and settled on a farm near Hoyt, where Mr. Stadel and his wife remained. Mr. Stadel was the fourth generation of the Stadel family to live on the farm. He was married to Eliene R. Stenger on March 21, 1942 in Topeka, Kan. They were divorced. He later married Margaret Hazel Callison on Nov. 11, 1978 in Hoyt, Kan.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Hazel Stadel of Hoyt; sons Gary Stadel of Olathe, Kan., Darrel Stadel of Wickenburg and Rodney Stadel of Hoyt; sister Joan Coffey of Mesa; brother. Clyde Stadel of Topeka, Kan.; stepson, Jim Bibler of Topeka; stepdaughter Pat Moore of Tampa, Fla.; six granddaughters; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday: Oct. 29 at the Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka, Kan. Philip Billard Post 1640, Veterans of Foreign Wars conducted the military graveside honors at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.

A visitation was held at the Parker-Price Mortuary on Monday, Oct; 28.
