| Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona September 11 and September 18, 1996, 1996 Hubert Neil "Bert" Lassond of Wittmann died Sept. 7 in Peoria. He was 68. Mr. Lassond was born Aug. 7, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. He had lived in Arizona for the past 40 years, coming from Ohio. Bert and his wife Lois moved to Arizona from Ohio in 1956. They lived in Tucson for 10 years and Phoenix for 18 years before moving to the small town of Wittmann. He began work as a steel worker in Ohio and was later employed in various positions in the trucking industry. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, and he loved his birds. Mr. Lassond also greatly enjoyed bagpipe and classical music. Bert and Lois helped many people in need over the years and always fought for the underdog. He gave people chances that others never would have. Mr. Lassond had a very large heart for those around him, arid his friends were lifetime friends. Bert will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lois of Wittmann; daughters and sons -in-law Diane Elaine and Donald Lang, and Deborah Alta and Ambrose Stone, all of Phoenix; daughters Danette Renee Lassond of Mesa and Donna Marie Lassond of Phoenix; sister Elizabeth Dull of Lodi, Ohio; brother Bernard Lassond of Wooster, Ohio; grandchildren Athena Rene, James H.C. and Donovan A.N. Lang, and Justin Neil Lassond; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Florence Colvin, son Shawn O'Neil Lassond, and parents Hubert John and Florence G. (Worsley) Lassond. Services were held Thursday, Sept. 12 at l0 a.m. at Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Bishop Max Colgrove officiated, and the head speaker was Kevin Shumway.
