Helen Frances Tinnin Maben
(November 3, 2030 - July 8, 2014)

Helen was three months old when her parents moved to Flagstaff and, she lived here the rest of her life. As a child, she helped her parents build Toonerville Trading Post. She met her husband, George Maben, when he came to work at the Babbitt ranches. They were married on September 10, 1947 and had sixty wonderful years together.

Mom was a loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was watching her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, watching animals, and flowers of every kind. She was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers. She served as Mt. Elden (Killip) School PTA president and as a leader in Cub Scouts and Brownies. She recently recorded her memories as part of a NAU Cline Library project.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including Sunday School teacher and Relief Society Secretary. She was also liaison for the Flagstaff Stake scheduling volunteers for the Family Food Center for many years.

Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, brother, and two sons-in-law.

She is survived by her children: George and Hazel; Janet (Howell); David and Sandra; and Lynda (Howell); eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 8:30 to 9:45, followed by a funeral service at 10:00, both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Linda Vista Chapel, 2400 Linda Vista Drive, Flagstaff, Arizona.

The family thanks Nurses Network for their loving care and support during her last illness. They suggest that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helen’s name to Flagstaff Family Food Center, PO Box P Flagstaff, AZ 86002.
