Mary Ellen Arnell of Wickenburg, died May 12 at her home in Wickenburg. She was 86. Mrs. Arnell was born Aug. 6, 1909 in Bethesda, Md. She had lived in Arizona for the past three years.
Mrs. Arnell was a retired nurse. In 1937 she went to Alaska for the U.S. government as a nurse, working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She remained in Alaska to raise her family. She was appointed by President Eisenhower to the U.S. Bureau of Health for the Alaska health system.

Mrs. Arnell later began to visit the Wickenburg area, staying at the Remuda Ranch from 1955 on. She liked Wickenburg so much she made it her permanent home three years ago. Her hobbies included gardening, horseback riding and traveling. She was a past member of the Las Damas in Wickenburg. Survivors include two sons, Robert E. and Fedric C. Arnell; and a granddaughter, Rebecca A. Arnell.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 16 in the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 5-7 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home.

Private cremation will follow the funeral services.
