Kigman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on Sunday, August 24, 2014 - After a valiant fight against cancer, Warren M. Watkins entered his Heavenly Father's home on Aug. 14, 2014. He was the son of Vivian and Thomas Watkins and was born in Grand Junction, Colo., on Sept. 13, 1932. He was raised in Meeker, Colo., on the family ranch, the Cross L Ranch. Warren attended schools in Meeker and upon graduation entered the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Europe. Upon his return to the states, he began the first of many careers by selling encyclopedias door to door. He moved to Kingman in 1986, and at the time of his retirement was employed by the Mohave County Senior Programs. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and loved his church family. First and foremost, Warren was a cowboy and lived his life as one from traveling the rodeo circuits as a bull rider to shoeing horses, raising cattle and sheep and maintaining his ranch. As all of his friends and family know, he had a never-ending supply of stories to tell regarding his experiences and escapades. Warren was predeceased by his parents and a son, Colby. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; son, Carey and his fiancée, Linda, of Kingman; his brother, Duane Watkins and wife Rose of Wyoming and their children; son, Thomas, of Wyoming and his son; daughter, Melody, of Wyoming and her son; son, Sonny and wife Rene of Colorado and their daughter; and his daughter, Donna, of Phoenix and her children. The family wishes to thank the KRMC Cancer Center, in particular Dr. Kathleen Naegele and Nurse Practitioner Jeff Winger, for their compassionate and excellent care of Warren during his illness. All of the nurses at the chemo site held a special place in his heart, as well as the staff at the KRMC Interventional Radiology Department. You were his "heroes." Thanks also to all the physicians and nurses at the hospital who cared for him. Warren felt that God places special people in your life and pathway when most needed and you all were a blessing to us. Warren chose to donate his body to science as his way of helping to find a cure for cancer. At his request, there will be no formal services. Family will have private services at a later date. Should you wish to remember him, please make a memorial donation to the Kingman Regional Cancer Center or to St. John's United Methodist Church. Warren - son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend - how we miss you. Until we see you again, all of our love, forever and always. |
