My beloved husband was so kind and thoughtful, often writing poems of
love to me. Until we meet again, may you rest in peace.

John came into this life Aug. 14, 1935, by Thomas and Alta Ellwood in
Washington, Pa. He graduated from Lock Haven University, where he met
his wife of 57 years, Jan (Kline), daughter of Curll and Eleanore Kline
of Wilcox, Pa., and Kingman. John enjoyed his summers off from teaching
and raising his family along the Allegheny River in Oakmont, Pa.

Lifelong memories were made boating and water skiing with his wife and
kids. John taught physical education and history at Wilkinsburg Middle
School, where he was a devoted coach of football, wrestling and track.
He nurtured many young men who have stayed in touch and have gone on to
choose a productive path in life and many have become coaches
themselves.

John will be missed by his four children and two grandchildren; John
(Shirley) Ellwood, Cape Coral, Fla., Julie (John) York, Salem, Ore.,
Jami (John) Petrishen, and their children, John and Jordan, Lower
Burrell, Pa., Jennifer Ellwood (Steven Cooper), Boston, Mass.

John is survived by his sister, Audree Ord, Warren, Pa.

The family would like to thank Dr. Naegele, Jeff Winger, the nurses and
staff at the Kingman Cancer Center, Dr. Bokhari and the nurses and
caregivers at hospice for their compassionate and wonderful care. No
services are planned per John's request.
