Mary Jane Burnette, 60, of Blackwater died Sept. 12, 2014, in Sacaton.

Ms. Burnette was born Jan. 19, 1954, in Whiteriver. She was a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service for 29 years and enjoyed her job.

A member of a boxing organization for youth along with her husband, she loved the children and was their No. 1 fan, encouraging them to strive to be the best that they could be. She encouraged the youths to have self-confidence. She liked travel and gardening and loved her dogs.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon F. Antone; three brothers, Leroy Burnette of Canyon Day and Mark and Dino Burnette of Seven Mile; and five sisters, Barbara Begay, Melinda Ivans, Bernadine Pope and Caroline Burnette, all of Seven Mile, and Veronica Titla of San Carlos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Lola Burnette, and brother Fernando Burnette.

Visitation was held Sept. 18 at the Gila River District 1 Multipurpose Building. Funeral will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the Begay home in Seven Mile.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole and Maud Coolidge Chapel, handled arrangements.
