Vernon Lee Jacobus, 85, of Dewey, Ariz., passed away Sept. 12, 2014, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Vernon was born May 27, 1929, in Ferndale, Mich., to John and Anetta Jacobus.

Vernon is survived by his children, Scott Jacobus of Phoenix, Ariz., Phillip Jacobus of Prescott Valley, Amy Jacobus of Phoenix, and Earl Garrett of Hereford, Ariz.; grandchildren Amanda, Sammy, Aubrey, Eric, Holly, Tiffany and April; great-grandchildren Madison, Lyjah and two more on the way; and his brother Byron Jacobus. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack Jacobus, and his wife, Dee Jacobus.

Vernon was an officer of the American Legion Post 78, and the VFW, and a member of the Military Order of the Cootie of the U.S., and the Korean War Veterans Association.

Vernon enjoyed traveling, camping, and his time as a Boy Scout Leader. He was very proud of his service to his country in the U.S. Army, his work at the American Legion and VFW, and most of all his family.

A private burial will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
