Daryl Raymond Nelson, a.k.a. Duffer and Big D, was a loving husband, father, proud papa, entertaining uncle, true friend, and devoted businessman.

Daryl had a heart of gold, yet that is the very thing that took his life Sept. 23, 2014.

Born March 7, 1956, to Donald A. Nelson and Ann L. (Rempel) Nelson, Daryl spent most of his younger years in Minnesota with his brother, Greg (deceased), before moving to Prescott Valley, Ariz., in 1970.

In addition to his family, one of Daryl's proudest achievements was building his trucking company from the ground up. Nelson Trucking is a glowing example of how Daryl lived his life through diligence, hard work, and passion. Daryl valued dearly those relationships made through his business.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Lorrie; their daughter, Keli (Armando) Jauregui; and grandchildren Charleigh, Adrian, and Jakob Daryl, along with many beloved extended family members, both near and far.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, AZ.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all close friends, family, and colleagues who have offered their support and love. We truly appreciate you.

He had a good life; now he'll have a good rest.

Cheers!
