Juanita 'Nita' A. Walker, 74, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., passed away peacefully in her home Oct. 8, 2014. She was born in Albuquerque, N.M. on Oct. 11, 1939.

She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School in 1957. Nita went on to attend college at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and continued her education at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. She played the clarinet in both high school and college and also had an interest in leather working. She lived her life in New Mexico and Arizona and a brief stay in Japan.

She had an enormous love for country music and always had a favorite cat as a companion. She worked her entire career in the banking industry where she was well liked and highly respected. She enjoyed her retirement years in Prescott Valley until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Herb; father Victor; mother Frances; and brother Smokey.

She is survived by her son Scott of Prescott Valley; grandsons Nick, also of Prescott Valley, and Brandon and Matthew of Salem, Ore.; and her daughter-in-law Christi of Tempe.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2014, at Wakelin Funeral Home, 8480 E. Valley Road, Prescott Valley, Ariz. Those unable to attend can send condolences to www.ruffnerwakelin.com. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made on Nita's behalf to Prescott Area Pet Emergency Hospital.
