She was born on September 24, 1931 to Lilly Duncan, a telephone operator. Enduring a hardscrabble existence throughout her childhood, she was also a favorite of many aunts, uncles and cousins. She met and married Joe Ellet, the love of her life, with whom she would raise four children. After a stint in the Navy, Joe finished his education and became a school teacher in West Texas. The family moved to Coolidge, Ariz. in the 50's where Joe taught Biology and Pat went to cosmetology school. Another promotion took Joe and Pat to southern Arizona in Tacna, where Pat did volunteer work for the local hospice. They made lifelong friends everywhere they lived. Retirement led them to settle in Mesquite, Nev., where they raised their grandson, Jerrod Lee, after his mother's untimely death. The Ellets spent their later years escaping the Nevada summer heat and traveling extensively in their luxurious motor home.
