Jerelene "Jeri" (Jones) Mathis-Conner, age 77, was called to rest on October 7, 2014 in Peoria, Arizona. She was born May 30, 1937 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Elder David and Mother Alma Jones.

Jerelene "Jeri" was a caring and loving, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Family was always very important to her. In her earlier years Jeri was very involved in her community and activities with her children, family and members' children and all other children as well. She was a great inspiration with a big heart. You could always count on her to give you the best advice or try to resolve a problem.

After raising her two sons, Robert and Dexter Mathis and owning a business with her first husband Milo Mathis, Jr. of 20 years, the two parted.

She then went on to start a new journey in life. She married Tommy Conner in 1992. In her last 25+ years of her life, Jeri devoted very much of her time and energy raising an caring for three of her grandchlden , seven great grandchildren, and four adopted children.

Jeri enjoyed traveling to California and back East over the years staying in touch and keeping up with family members and friends. Her favorite food was Soul Food, can you say greens, black-eyed peas and corn bread. That was for sure her thing. One of her favorite things to say was "Don't let anyone come between you and your family".

Jeri leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband of 22 years Tommy Conner her son Robert (Alexis) Mathis, Sr. his 10 children: Robert, Lisa, Talietha and Rose Mathis, Mohanna, Kenya, Amon, Nafali, Nala, and Nondie JOhnson. Alexis' brother Jonte Hendrix, whom Robert and Alexis raised as their son. Three children of her deceased son Dexter Mathis, Sr.; Marlene, Dexter, Jr. and Milo Mathis. Her three adopted children Demetreas, Katrina and Jo'Vonta Conner. Her brother Horace (Francis) Jones, Sr. of Brunswick, GA. Jeri was a great grandmother of 33 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Milo Mathis, Sr. her son Dexter Mathis, Sr. her adopted son Steven Phillips-Conner, her grandson Tyrone Mathis, and a host of siblings to name a few: Alma Hopkins, Rutha Mae Ross, Geneva Williams, Doretha Hardy, Ethel Mae Stanley, Thomas Jones and David Jones. She will always be loved, remembered and missed.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Aguila Community Bible Church with Rev. Dan Carlson and Rev. Langston Bryant and Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating.
