Joe E. Starnick died at Yavapai Community Hospital on Aug. 30, 1983, at the age of 77.

He was born Nov. 27, 1905, at Butte, Mont., and moved to Humboldt 68 years ago from there. He had owned and operated mines in Yavapai County during most of his adult life, and also drove the Humboldt school bus for 10 years, retiring in 1979.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and horseman, and a life member of the Prescott Elks Lodge 330.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel of Humboldt, two stepsons, Mark Hidalgo of Tempe and Carl Hidalgo of California, three stepdaughters, Christine Alanis of Tempe, Janelle Targetts of Phoenix and Billie Dawn Alvey of Cornville.

He is also survived by four sisters, Frances Murray of Humboldt, Ann Thompson of Phoenix, Barbara Aggers of Albuquerque, N.M, and Kate Garber of Humboldt; a brother, Rudy, of Phoenix, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral sercices will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., with the Rev. Jim Beasley officiating.

Visitation will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday until service time at Memory Chapel.

Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery.
