Janet Marie Jaramillo

On March 1, 1977, an angel was born. Gladys and Dionisio (Niche) Jaramillo were blessed with Janet Marie Jaramillo.

On Feb. 4, 2011, Janet was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, and in June 2014 she had her last tumor removed and was in remission. After having extended complications from that surgery, she went on to her next journey on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014. Surrounded by her loving family and leaving via angel’s wings from the University Medical Center in Tucson.

“She now joins her father, Dionisio Jaramillo Sr., and grandparents, Demetrio and Nellie Sample and Erasmo and Avaloy Jaramillo, to watch over us from above.”

Janet’s spirit is carried on by her daughters, Baylee Rae and Karlee Jo Jaramillo, both of St. Johns; mother Gladys Jaramillo of St. Johns; brothers Dionisio Jaramillo Jr. and Jerry (Lori) Jaramillo, both of St. Johns; sisters Carmen (Robert) Tanner and Amanda (Mandi) Jaramillo, both of St. Johns, and Victoria (Rob) Jackson of Glendale; her own angel, Danielle (Sally) Jaramillo; and extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.

Janet resided in St. Johns all her life. She graduated from St. Johns High School (she was a bona fide “Redskin” fan) and worked for the Apache County Assessor’s Office until her illness began. Janet enjoyed the small-town life; she loved her bling, enjoyed country music, dancing, being a cheer mom and spending time with her girls.

For Janet, every day she was alive was special; she understood the true meaning of being blessed. She was the most positive, inspirational person to be around. Although she was in the treacherous waters of cancer, she always made sure everyone around her was taken care of. If anyone needed anything, she was the first one trying to figure out how to help. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

A rosary was held Oct. 24 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A funeral Mass was held Oct. 25, also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with interment following at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
