Stella Clark
(November 18, 1950 - October 28, 2014)

Saila (Stella Yazzie) Clark died suddenly on October 28, 2014 at the age of 63 years old.

She is survived by her daughter and ex-son-in-law Trerena (Dean) Ignacio and daughter and son-in-law Trina (Gary) Hubbell and five grandchildren Tyesha Ignacio, Kanye Ignacio, Riley Ignacio, Chase Hubbell and Parker Hubbell who mourn her passing.

Saila was born November 18, 1950 in Bittersprings, Arizona. She was the third oldest child, who enjoyed a traditional Navajo upbringing. After graduating from Sherman Indian School she married her husband, Tommy Yazzie, of thirty years (they later divorced).

Her college years were spent at Northern Arizona University, the University of Arizona, and Washington State. She held BA and MA degrees in Education and Speech Pathology. In her second half of her life she was a speech pathologist for several school districts. Saila was full of energy and embraced life. She never let fear or failure stop her from completing her desired goals.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking them to the movies, eating breakfast with them and buying endless amount of toys for her grandsons. She doted on her only granddaughter and loved them all dearly. Saila was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed by her daughters and grandchildren. Saila is preceded in death by her mother, Clara Lefthand, father, Burton Clark, and son, Targa Yazzie.

Services will be held at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., with a graveside service following at Citizens’ Cemetery.

A reception will be held following graveside services.
