George E. Travis, 86, of Prescott, born April 29, 1918, in Prescott, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Prescott.

A celebration of George’s life will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott. Private cremation will be at Bradshaw Crematory, Prescott Valley. Private interment will be at the Arizona Pioneers’ Home Cemetery, Prescott.

George E. Travis, 86, Prescott, Arizona, passed away January 29, 2005. A Celebration of George's Life will be Sunday, February 6, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott, Ariz.

A private cremation will be at Bradshaw Crematory, Prescott Valley.

Private interment at the Arizona Pioneer Home Cemetery, Prescott.

George Elbert Travis died Jan. 29, 2005, at Las Fuentes Care Center, in Prescott. He was 86 years old.

George was born April 29, 1918, in Prescott, to William and Dorothy (Day) Travis. He retired in 1979 as an engineer from Phelps Dodge Mining Co. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and lapidary work. He was most proud of being from Prescott.

George is survived by his two sons, Richard (Eileen) Travis of Wickenburg and David (Jody) Travis of Thatcher, Ariz.; brothers, William (Oma) Travis of Prescott and Warren (Ginger) Travis of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Mary Helen (Jim) Mellin of San Antonio, Texas, Barbara Ann (Laddie) Marin of Blacksburg, Va., Dorothy Travis of Phoenix, and Sharon Travis of Cheverly, Md. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, TJ., Kristin, Holly, Tyler, Sarah and Elizabeth. George was preceded in death by his loving and caring wife, Mary Jane Travis, and sister, Nancy Sparks of Phoenix.

A Celebration of George's Life will be Sunday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m., at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 South Cortez Street, in Prescott. Private cremation by Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. Private interment at the AZ Pioneers' Home Cemetery, in Prescott.
