Matthew Gregory Arbizo

Matthew Gregory Arbizo, of Safford, entered into eternal peace at his son’s home on November 19, 2014. He was 42. A resident of Safford, Arizona, since birth, Matt was born on September 25, 1972, to Marcello and Leonarda “Nally” Arbizo. He attended and graduated from Safford High School in 1990.

No one who met Matt forgot his passion for enjoying life outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and riding his horse. During his life he was a member of the 50 yarders in which he took many horseback rides enjoying the beautiful Arizona landscape. Matt had a talent for drawing and was able to draw many inspiring pieces of art for friends and family.

In 1988, he married his longtime girlfriend, Shawn Black. They had two children, Anastacia and Andrew Arbizo; and one granddaughter, Amyah Moreno. During his life Matt supported his family as a carpenter working for Heavy Owens Property and later working independently. Many homes and projects in the Safford and surrounding area have been touched with the talent of Matt’s carpentry work.

Matt was preceded in death by: his mother, Leonarda “Nally” Arbizo; brothers, Ruben Arbizo and Arthur “Tudy” Arbizo; sisters, Gloria Arbizo, Valentina Arbizo and Rosie “Punie” Padilla.

Matt is survived by: his children, Andrew (Autumn) Arbizo and Anna (Jacob) Moreno; granddaughter, Amyah Moreno; father, Marcello Arbizo; siblings, Anita (Chon) Aranda, Frances (Ramon) Aranda, Chacho (Cyndi) Arbizo, Grace Arbizo, Chris Arbizo, Ralph (Cathy) Arbizo, Luke (Marie) Arbizo, Melinda Arbizo and her children Analecia, Anecia, and Aidan Arbizo.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Matt will be celebrated Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Rev. Robert Rodriguez.

A rosary and prayer vigil will be prayed Tuesday evening, November 25, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Deacon Carl Vessels.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 25, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
