Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on November 20, 2014 - Joyce D. Ruger, a 12-year Kingman resident, passed away at her home on Nov. 12, 2014. She was born March 1940 to John D. and Helene F. Clippard in Brooklyn, N.Y. Joyce began her life and grew up in Brooklyn. She graduated from Ft. Hamilton High School and Brooklyn College, receiving her teaching certificate. She taught first- through fifth-grade elementary school on Long Island, N.Y., for 32 years before retiring. Joyce leaves behind a husband, John W. Ruger, and two daughters, Donna Mauer and Jeanne (Curtis) Thurman. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Tyler and Amanda Thurman. Joyce loved to travel in her younger years, and had seen six of the world's continents. She was also a private person who loved animals, gave to charities and attended St. John's United Methodist Church in Kingman. She will be sorely missed. Visitation will take place at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23. Services will take place at St. John's United Methodist Church, 1730 Kino Ave., at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24.
