| Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 Joan Elaine Huskey, raised and lived on the Dry Side of La Plata County, was born Sept. 26, 1928, and left this world to be in a better place on Nov. 11, 2014. She had five children, Ruth, Larry, Jerry, Linda and Benny. She was preceded in death by Ruth and Benny. She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Larry Slade, Jerry Slade and Linda DeSilva, of Arizona; her brother, Cecil Benton, of Durango; her 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and her 7 great-great grandchildren. She had a very special person in her life – Leland Steerman – who will miss her greatly. Viewing was held at Hood Mortuary, Durango, on Friday, Nov. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. Pastor Clyde Johnson officiated the memorial service at First Southern Baptist Church, 1715 West 2nd Ave., Durango, at 11 a.m. on Nov. 22. The casket was closed at the service. Interment followed at the Marvel Cemetery, with a fellowship meal for family and friends afterward at the Marvel Grange Hall. See Also: Find A Grave |
