Lamar Oliver Kinnard, passed away on December 12, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. He was 79.

Visitation will be held Tues. December 16, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, AZ.

Viewing will be Wed. December 17, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Globe Stake Center – Globe Ward.

Funeral services will be Wed. December 17, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at LDS Church, Globe, AZ.

Lamar Oliver Kinnard was born in Thatcher, Ariz. on Aug. 22, 1935. Lamar was the first child born to Bud Randolph Kinnard and his wife, Helen Elizabeth Elmer. Soon after he was born, his family moved to the small mining town of Miami, Ariz. Lamar attended school there, graduating from Miami High School in 1953. He attended Brigham Young University and Eastern Arizona College, studying architectural engineering. In 1955, Lamar answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea.

Lamar married his sweetheart, Verna Louise Cook, on Sept. 14, 1956, in Globe, Ariz. Lamar started working for the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company. In 1965, Lamar began working for Rancher’s Exploration & Development as the foreman of the Solvent Extraction Plant at the Bluebird Mine. During this time, he and Verna Lou became parents to their daughter, Donna Ruth, and their son, Randall Scott. Lamar loved playing fast-pitch softball, coaching Little League and Pop Warner football, and hunting and fishing. He spent every deer season out at Cherry Creek, where he shared his passion for hunting with every member of his family.

In 1983, they changed direction and moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where Lamar began a new career as the elections manager for the Maricopa County Elections Office. He dedicated much of his time providing opportunities to the youth in the Biltmore Arizona Stake, where he shared his love of hunting, camping and sports with the Boy Scouts throughout the valley. Lamar retired in 1999 and he and Verna Lou decided to return to their hometown in 2007. He continued his service to others through various callings in the Globe, Arizona Stake.

Lamar passed away on Dec. 12, 2014. Lamar’s greatest achievements and joys in his life include his wife, Verna Lou; son, “Scott”; daughter, Donna Hudson and her husband, Ron; his grandchildren: Brian and Cecilie Hudson, Megan Hudson, Joshua Kinnard, Aaron Kinnard, Justin Hudson, Zackariah Kinnard, Desiree Kinnard and Brittany Kinnard; and his great-grandchildren: ­Bethanie, Camille, Brianne, Richard Carter, JJ, Elaine, Jaxon, April, Autumn, Aurora, Ryleigh, Brionna, Cassidy and Emma.

“His children’s children’s children shall rise up and call him Blessed.”
