Favre Eugene Eaton, 83, a retired electronics design engineer, passed on Dec. 5, 2014, from brain cancer.

He was born in 1931 in Colorado to Favre Lee Eaton and Mary Day Eaton.

Since his father was a forester, Favre spent his elementary years all over western Montana and graduated from Helena High School, where he participated in track, especially broad jump, and football. He also managed to become an eagle scout.

He spent four years in the Navy as a submariner during the Korean Conflict. It was there he learned that engineers do more than drive trains. Actually, he received a naval commendation for saving his sub.

He graduated in electrical engineering from Montana State University in 1958. He then married his wife of 56 years, Lois Marie Hord.

During his engineering career he designed controls for everything from coffeemakers to nuclear power plants, including Palo Verde near Phoenix.

Favre was predeceased by his son, Robert, in 2013.

He leaves his wife, Dr. Lois Eaton; his daughter, Joy Eaton of California; his daughter-in-law, Elisa Eaton; granddaughter Kira of Connecticut; his foster daughter, Lucy Laccavoli and her daughter, Melody Christopher; two great-grandchildren; his brother, John, of Wyoming; and other family from Connecticut and Virginia.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at the Prescott United Methodist Church on West Gurley Street. Any donations can be made to the church or to the Granite Greek Feeding Ministry, for which Favre cooked the cabbage on Saturday mornings.
