Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 June L. Palmer, a long-time resident of Lake
Havasu City, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89. June
was born in New Castle, Pa., Sept. 10, 1925 where she lived until she
was 16.

In 1941, June moved to California and went to work with the Goodyear
Tire & Rubber Company where she was to meet her future husband, Earl.
June was 18 when she fell out of that drum she was inspecting, and fell
(literally) over Earl. They began dating immediately and two weeks
later, April 10, 1944 were married in a beautiful chapel in Las Vegas.

In June 1945, June followed Earl’s passion for boat racing and began
competitive boat racing herself and by 1963 had won approximately forty
trophies of her own. In 1970, June captured the famous Hennessy Cup in
Long Beach, Calif. and in 1978 June was voted “Woman of the Year”. In
1979, June also had the honor of receiving the “Marine Industry
Accomplishments Award”.

June and Earl were very active with Robert P. McCulloch Sr., and many
others in getting the Outboard World Championship boat races started in
Lake Havasu City in 1964 and continued to act in an official capacity of
the race throughout the late 1960s and 70s. June continued to wear many
hats in her support of racing, having been a racing driver, score keeper
and even becoming a race director of the Havasu Classic.

June and Earl had a daughter named Janie, who also drove racing boats
for a while.

June and Earl owned and operated Stylecraft Boats in Long Beach, Calif.
and in the late 1960s relocated to Lake Havasu City to live and run
their boat manufacturing business.

June and Earl had three grandchildren, Scotty (RIP), Melisa and Misty
and several great-grandchildren. June was proceeded in death by her
husband Earl in Aug. 1976, their grandson Scotty and several other
family members.

To our beloved friend, may you rest in peace.
