| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 Dean LeRoy Boyd March 20, 1929 - December 21, 2014 Dean LeRoy "Buddy" Boyd, 85, of College Station, Texas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014. He requested that his family honor him privately. Born March 20, 1929, in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was the son of James LeRoy and Daisy Dean (Thompson) Boyd. He finished high school in Ft. Worth, Texas. Dean graduated with a degree in economics from Texas A&M in the Class of 1950. He served as Commanding Officer of Battery E Field Artillery. He was also a member of the Singing Cadets, appeared in leading roles in various musical productions, played trombone in a small combo, and was a DJ in the early days of WTAW radio. After graduation, Dean served in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Captain. He worked more than 20 years with Johnson & Johnson, including over five years in Hawaii building business for several J&J companies. He then became the national sales manager for several health related companies. During his career, he trained and developed many people who attribute their professional success to his mentorship. Dean and his wife Janice formed their own company in Prescott, Arizona, that allowed them to travel the American West, calling on friends and clients from 1987 to 2007 when they retired. They enjoyed their travels to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and around the USA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Janice Boyd. He then moved to Bryan, Texas, to be near his son in 2012. Dean was a loving father and husband who set a good example for his son, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Dean leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Dean LeRoy Jr. and his wife Kriss Hope Boyd; a brother, John Dickson and his wife Mary Boyd and their daughter Alison; and one sister, Georgia Lee and her husband Ray Latimer and the families of their three sons Christopher, Anthony and Patrick.
