Carl Gordon Mallicoat died Oct. 26, 2001 in Phoenix. He was 64. Gordon was born Nov. 26, 1936 in Arenzille, Ill.

My son, Gordon, spent three years in the Army, one in Fort Gordon, Ga., and two in Germany. He was a sergeant but he didn't care for Army life and counted the days until he came home. He wrote to his parents every week.

Gordon lived several years in Phoenix, working as a life insurance agent. He said he didn't "sell" - he met people, visited with them and then they volunteered to buy his insurance.

Gordon lived mostly after that in Bullhead City and had the Ken Bahme Realty Company, making a lot of friends during those times.

He was interested in elderly people and couples. His hope was to have a garden and peach orchard. He loved going to Idaho with an elderly couple who had a big garden and an orchard there ... now he has joined them.

Gordon also was a collector of all antiques and looked for them. The collection was for his own pleasure.

Mr. Mallicoat lived in Ashfork and Seligman for the last few years and had a real estate office there, where he enjoyed all of the trivia about Route 66. There, he made many friends, as he loved to visit with people.

Gordon was a good loving son and father. We will all miss his bodily presence, but we also know he is still with us and helping us in our earth life.

Love, Mother.

He is survived by his mother Helen Mallicoat of Wickenburg; daughters Kristi Quintana of Wickenburg, Lori Mick of Seligman, Sharon Schnupp of Wickenburg, Jennifer Aldrich of Phoenix, and Nickole Messner of Bullhead City; sisters Sharon Craig of Yuma, Carol Graves of Phoenix, Karla Whitham of Phoenix and Shirley Gillum; brothers Ronnie Mallicoat of Wickenburg, and Steve Mallicoat of Ashfork; stepchildren Peggy Curnutte, Bonnie Fitzgerald and Frankie Buchan; 18 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gordon was proud he had a cousin and a niece born on his 18th birthday - Debbie Smith of Beardstown, Ill., and Pam Beus of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Mallicoat.

Visitation was held Monday (Oct. 29), and funeral services were held Tuesday (Oct. 30) at 2 p.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Davis officiated, graveside services followed.

Wickenburg Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
