The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ October 31, 2001 A18 Harold D. (Zeke) Zimmerman, born in 1926 in Marceline, Mo., passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Wickenburg at age 75. He was preceded in death by his son Kurt and parents William Roy and Lillie Myers Zimmerman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joanne Boley Zimmerman; daughter Diane Leduc; son-in-law Dr. Robert Leduc; daughter-in-law Nancy Zimmerman Loy; grandson Joshua Zimmerman (wife Abi); granddaughters Elizabeth Leduc Heck (husband Jim), Kristen Leduc and Piper Loy; and great-granddaughters Leigh Ann Heck and Sophie Grace Zimmerman. Surviving siblings include brother Roy Eugene; sister Nine Fern Carr; nephews Ron Carr and Cole Zimmerman; nieces Scherlyn Carr Kemp, Linda Carr Thye and Andrea Zimmerman Dusenberry. Zeke served proudly under General George S. Patton in the European Theatre of Operations as a decorated soldier in the 6th Armored Division, Company C, 50th Armored Infantry Battalion, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for outstanding bravery during battle. Zeke was an Iowa all-state champion in football, basketball and track. He was widely admired for his exceptional athletic abilities and his dedication to the game. Zeke was a beloved son, loyal husband, proud father, honorable grandfather and loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service is planned at a later date in Fort Madison, Iowa. |
