| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/13/2015 Rita LaBelle died Jan. 16, 2015, in Tucson, with her children by her side. She was born in 1928 to Lawrence and Grace Shinkel in Fort Wayne, Ind. Rita lived in Indiana and New Jersey as a child and moved to Tucson in 1958. In 1989, Rita moved to Show Low with her husband Russell LaBelle who preceded her in death in 1991. Rita is survived by her children, James Shaffery of Jackson, Miss., John Shaffery of Tucson, Patrick Shaffery of Lakeside, Timothy Shaffery of Lakeside, Marisa Shaffery of Phoenix, Michael Fimbres of San Diego, Calif., Debi Pageau of Tucson, Gianna Fimbres of San Diego, Calif., Tracy Munn of Show Low and Dan Shaffery of Louisville, Kent.; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The family will celebrate Rita’s life on her birthday in July in the White Mountains. |
