The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, April 16, 2009 Louise White (affectionately known as "Ma"), born Oct. 11, 1918, in Greenfield, Tenn., to Huckley McAlester and Minnie James, passed away on April 15, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. She is survived by her loving sons, Willard and James White; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers. Louise and her brothers were raised on a farm and learned the meaning of hard work at an early age. She married J.D. White in 1935, and they moved from Tennessee to Chicago, Ill., and lived there for 32 years. Louise worked as a general factory worker in Chicago for many years before retiring. She later relocated to Prescott in 1980 to start a better life and to be closer to her son and his family. Louise was very devoted to her family and will always be thought of as the best Grandma ever. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, determination and German chocolate cake! She enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing and caring for her pets. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. April 21, 2009, at Hampton Funeral Home, followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
