Elisabeth 'Liesel' Bathon Batchelor passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on Jan. 16, 2015 at the age of 75.

Elisabeth was born Jan. 13, 1940 in Mömbris, Germany, a small village outside Aschaffenburg in northwest Bavaria, an area known for its small idyllic villages, fields, meadows, and the Spessart forest. Elisabeth was the middle of five children. She was the daughter of father Adolf Bathon, a professional tailor and mother Hedwig Bathon, who was well known for her spectacular gardens that would cause villagers to pause in wonderment as they passed by. Her parents and her four siblings predecease her.

Elisabeth immigrated to Boulder City, Nevada after marrying a U.S. serviceman in Germany in the fall of 1958 and became a naturalized American citizen in the summer of 1967. Although she was very proud to be an American citizen, she never forgot her German heritage.

Elisabeth had a never-ending passion for European cuisine and refused to accept the American 'fast food and drink' diet as an acceptable alternative to a nutritious meal. Elisabeth was a consummate chef and hostess and she was known and revered for her dedication to ensure guests experienced an enjoyable and satiated event. Her passion for gardening was insatiable, and her persistence to guarantee a striking display of flowers was to be admired.

Elisabeth is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Richard L. Batchelor of Prescott, Arizona, a retired U.S. Air Force and international commercial airline pilot. Elisabeth and Richard were married on April 28, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived in Las Vegas until 1995 when they built their retirement home in Overton, Nevada. They moved to Prescott, Arizona in 2000 and built the home of their dreams with a gourmet kitchen and a shop to accommodate Richard's collector car.

Richard was the love of Elisabeth's life and constant companion, accompanying him on many trips abroad. Richard and Elisabeth shared their enthusiasm for travel and adventure that included years of exploring the many coves of Lake Mead on their beloved sailboat, "De Germania," and later in life, their intrigue for experiencing the high seas on cruises that included Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

A celebration of life event will be at 1:30 p.m. on March 28, 2015 at the Hassayampa Inn, Marina Room, in Prescott, Arizona. In memory of Elisabeth, the family welcomes contributions to the Help In Healing Home Foundation, 5811 East Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ 85054. http://www.helpinhealinghome.org
