Florencio ‘Crow’ Abel Castillo

After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Florencio “Crow” Abel Castillo died Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at the age of 75.

He leaves behind his wife, Marian Castillo; son Jerry (Wendy) Castillo; daughters Bernice (Ron) Thebeau and Pamela Castillo-Rhodes; brothers Manuel (Lee) Castillo and Frank (Molly) Castillo; sister Anita Castillo; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florencio and Santana Castillo, son Herman Anthony Castillo and brother Pete Castillo.

Crow was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Springerville. He married Marian in 1958 and together they had four children. He enjoyed golfing, playing music and being the social butterfly he was known to be. He was a lifelong resident of Springerville.

Crow requested to be cremated and have his ashes scattered at a later date by his family.

To all his friends and family, please remember Crow as the extremely friendly, witty, fun, loving human being he was. Remember the golf partner, the musician, the friend just sitting next to you. He will always be loved and greatly missed, but we know he is in a better place and he is back to being the person we all knew and loved.

The family is grateful for condolences, but in lieu of flowers, they request donations to the Alzheimer’s Association: email info@alz.org.

A rosary and a memorial Mass were held Feb. 28 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Springerville.

Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements.
