Florence E. (Pat) Kelly

Florence E. "Pat" Kelly, 86, graduated to a better life on April 1, 2009, after vigorously pursuing and enjoying this one.

She was born in Aberdeen, S.D., on June 2, 1922. She proudly served her country in WWII as a WAVE in the Navy where she met and married Bill Kelly, a Maine Corp Aviator. Pat and Bill moved to Prescott, his hometown, in 1946.

Pat "Sarge" was a valued employee at the Prescott National Forest Service for over 20 years. She was involved in many community activities including Smoki and the Elks lodge. She was well known for her gracious hospitality.

After moving to Sun City in 1985, Pat remained involved in her community as a dispatcher for the Sun City Sheriff's Posse for 22 years and as a volunteer at the Boswell Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Keith) Jacobson of Tempe; her sons, Mike (Lue Ann) of Safford; Patrick (Jan of Austin, Texas; and Brian (Diane) of Prescott Valley; eight grandchildren; and five-great-grandchildren. Pat is preceded in death by her husband Bill and granddaughter Kori.

Pat leaves us with a legacy of giving and vitality that enriched the lives of all those around her.

A celebration of Pat's life will be at 5 p.m. April 17, 2009, at the Sun Wood Apartment clubhouse, 9415 N. 99th Ave., Sun City, Ariz. Please join us as we share our memories and bid farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother and friend.
